Royal Steering Wheels

Update: Bought a donor wheel off ebay, which I will swap with Jack so I can keep the original wheel that came with the car. Also hopefully will get the new wheel quicker as I do not have to wait for a slot to fit it with Jack.

Will keep this thread posted

Lol

Interesting twist Matt, looks good. Alcantara is often on the sides, and leather on the top and bottom. I like things which at first glance are conventional, but when you look closer have a quirky twist. Nice!

Can’t wait for mine now, although mine has no alcantara :D

The donor wheel I ordered to give back as a swap arrived today, my wheel should be ready next week :D

Right... so I opened up the donor wheel.... bloody mint condition. For £32.... I even thought about just fitting this and being done with it but have already organised the retrimmed wheel

Confused how mine is so bad, 130k miles but I doubt the donor wheel has come from a lightly used car either

Hmmm, mileage verified?

Last owner was a lady owner, with a vast array of rings on her fingers. I wonder if that’s what’s done it

I wish I’d got this donor wheel first as probably wouldn’t have gone for retrim.. you still think it’s worth it?

That’s a fair shout. My Beemer’s gearknob has a slight rough patch exactly where he/she’s wedding ring would be. And it’s only done 60k

Yeh, the wheel I got from eBay feels so nice and thick too ffs

Oh well I’m sure the retrimmed one will feel even better!

I’m not sure which one to give to him as an exchange, the one off eBay or the current one.. current one is in worse knick, but my OCD wants to keep the original one that came with the car

Blimey Abbs, you must have hands like sand paper. Hope you get a pair of welding gloves for Christmas. Keep that new wheel protected.

Whatever you choose Jack will do a cracking job. Transformed my tired looking w219 one into 2017

I chose the perforated sides, smooth top bottom and the thickened all round with thumb grips.
Will look much better than the stock shiny one anyway

Personally Abs I would give him the current one, at least that way you will have two 'mint' condition steering wheels! :)
