Rusting rear arches

Mine are nowhere near as bad as the one in the Picture.
If I prod it I then may have holes and that will look worse than the blisters.
The question was quiet simple. Are the blisters normally holes all the way through?
to fit a repair plate and have it painted is going to cost half the value of the car.
Thanks for the help

Probably. If you care about the car take it to a body shop for opinion and price to repair. If not leave them alone, eventually gaffer tape will buy you some more time.

My post #7 is quite clear. If you have a tiny amount rust in this area and do nothing about it ...this is how it will end up.

The answer is simple. Prod and find out!

There is no "normal", every car will be different and at different stages of decay.
Oh I used to do that as an MOT inspector back in the 1970's with Gloucestershire CC.
Many a Luton Oxidizer, Torino rust crumbler, and the "here we go again" Austin A30/35 would fail the prod tests & be consigned to the crusher or flogged off at Tewkesbury Car Auctions .

Yours truly, 👿 the killer devil of "MOT Pass California Dreaming" , as Brit versions of Michael Angelo Sunday morning sculpting in the council house estate, would come to a crumbling/flaking end with last week's Gloucester Citizen news print falling out on the floor caked in Bondo .
So did I write Black or a Red 'un FAILURE .
Now there was the question???
The best 'un was the Chief Constable of Cheltenham (that place famous for red hats & no knickers town ) I failed his Lotus Cortina TWICE with Red' Uns!:p
No Mercy remember, as he was spitting feathers with anger, receiving the failure slip.
Tuercas Viejas

No wonder i was kicked out of the UK !!!👿

My 2006 220 cdi estate is rusting around both rear arches. It’s spoiling a pretty good car.
I see repair panels for sale on eBay. Do these weld over or up to to fit ?
When these blister is it not sly holes right through?

any advice

Thanks
The fast and easy solution to older Mercedes arch blemishes/ grot....

Chrome arches have the added bonus of looking posh as well so has been used on needy older Mercedes cars for many decades to great effect.:thumb:

That’s interesting
thanks
If you do go down the chrome arch route or just want to apply touch up paint then remember to apply this stuff on the rusty bits before you cover them up.

Vactan is a rust converter that actually works and is made in the UK.
