My 2020 S205 has developed an irritating squeak that I have narrowed down to something behind the N/S boot trim just behind the rear seat under the 3/4 panel window (circled in red). If I push on it I can replicate the squeak. More interestingly, as I park the car with the handbrake off, when i thump this area with my fist, the electronic handbrake activates!
I suspect there are electronics or some kind of sensor hidden in there.
What I cannot work out is how to remove this carpeted trim as the buckle for the folding seat back prevents me pulling the panel off. I would really appreciate it if someone can guide me or advise me about what is behind the panel and how to remove it. A parts diagram for the area would be great.

Very interesting a couple weeks ago I test drove an e63s estate and there was a rattle (rather than squeek) from the rear and I thought it was the removable and retractable boot lip piece. Definitely when I agitated and shook that piece, it rattled like when I was driving it, but it seems like your squeek is from behind that trim piece, I don't know anything about what hides behind there! Sorry

When I press on the red area, it squeaks and when i thump it lightly, the EPC engages. I would now love to know what is hiding there, and fix the squeak in the process.

Thank you! That's really helpful. It appears it's the Keyless Go and 360 degree camera computers there.

I've an S205 (C43). If you remove the parcel shelf device you'll find a small screw that allows removal of the plastic trim piece that accepts the parcel shelf tang. If you also lift up the rear seatbelt where it passes over the top of the seat on that side you ma also find another bolt which holds down another plastic trim piece. With these removed you will have much more access to pull the carpet forward. You may also have to remove the rear door weather seal and the plastic trim down the side of the door to release the carpet fully. I had to remove the same area on mine in order to get the rear seat belts removed and that carpet piece i recall was a real git. O can't remember what was behind it but i'll check my photos now and if i find anything useful i'll post. There were the odd piece of foam that have been put in placve from factory, no doubt to lessen the squeeks

Thank you. That’s really helpful. I did think that plastic bit for the roller bling had to be removed and online, I’ve seen the back of the carpet trim where the clips are and unfortunately can’t get a tool in there to reduce risk of the clips breaking.

Yes be careful with the last plastic part the makes the top side of the boot towards rear seats. The clips that hold this part on are really hard. In hindsight i think there must be a better way to fully pull the carpet all the way back. Perhaps instead starting from the middle of the boot somewhere? I'd never checked this route out. I do however remember having access to behind the carpet prior to having all plastic trim fully out. I think it it pushed down out of the trim above and then in towards the boot, just the middle section where you'll get more flex. Should be enough to get a gap to look through and photo.
