S320 CDI Looks good value

Looks like SWB, leave it to the riff-raff . (*)

An s-class should be LWB ;).

That does look *very* cheap, I guess people are scared of 7 year old W220s without warranty?

In fact, I'd tread carefully - scam? faults? something else?

No mention of an MOT?!

there are no mechanical faults
But don't ask about the electrics or bodywork :D

It's certainly a very nice looking car,

I wonder if there is an S-class estate

I saw the tags and thought it strange, does Pistonheads have similar scammer problems to Ebay?

Hi Guido,
I have a few pictures of that S-class but is it real or a Photoshop jobbies? I even have interior shots but they just don't look right and the rear is more like an E-class 210 :o

I must admit I don't know for sure.

Have a look at this site.

I vaguely recall hearing about a company in Austria (or was it Germany ) that did these customised versions, but not sure if that was for real or an urban myth...

I must say i like that S Class estate, although its not something i'd be taking an old washing machine to the recycling centre in (rather like my poor W202 tomorrow...)

The photographs look real but it looks exactly like the rear of an E-class 210 series has just been stuck onto the car?? The link Guido has kindly posted are the exact pictures I have but they lack detail.

the S-class is a beautiful vehicle and one we would like to own, but until they produce an estate we will have to soldier on with the very nice E series.

Hopefully the car advertised in this link is genuine and some lucky person gets themselves a bargain.

John

This is the company I had in mind:
http://www.binz.com/

They do all sorts of MB conversions. I saw a W140 estate from them once.

Just before we purchased our latest Sprinter (stretched limo) I was thinking about buying an E-class from that company :)

Does look tidy, wouldn't be overly concerned about the tag on the keyfob. Spec isn't bad, Xenons & Parktronic too. No COMAND. Although thinking about it, the ad also states Double glazing & Door closers, these last two items were not standard on the W220. The double glazing is quite a rare option. I suspect that it may not have it and the seller is being too descriptive.

Double glazing was standard even on the W140, I'm pretty sure it is on the W220 as well.

Lots of people are confused because the double glazing windows on the W220 are a lot thinner than they were on the W140 and seem to confuse them with regular ones.

The closing aids on the doors were standard from the 430 model upwards, but as you say not for the 320s.

Getting back to the original post regarding the S320CDi on Pistonheads - as suspected it is a scam - I emailed him just to check - here is the reply from the seller:

" Hello,

I am selling this car for £7,000.00 including delivery anywhere in UK.I set at a "very, very low" price to guarantee a sale. The only reason is that I need cash for a family emergency. I have to tell you that I'm currently out of town with some major problems so pick up/view isn't an option. If you want to buy this vehicle email me back with your full name and address to start the official procedure trough PistonHeads. They will send you a notification with ALL the info regarding delivery, purchase protection and refund policy so please provide your details before more questions. You will find 90% of answers in that notification from PistonHeads!

Thanks"

Why do these people do this???

Well done Whizzkid and thanks for the update. I don't feel guilty now about discussing the estate  :o

What a pity there is no way of confronting these scammers.

John
