Hi there.
New to the forum. After having brake failure on my Mercedes E320 04 plate 94000 miles, purchased a second hand one, the car then went to my local Mercedes dealership, was then to be told could not get the PSI beyond stage 4 model and car still currently off the road. The pump surges when the ignition is turned on.
Any advice or is there something else they’re not doing?
Any help appreciated.

Hi and welcome..

possibly a duff second hand one…. have you asked about Mercedes replacing the pump. Some dealerships will do this foc as they should have a 25 year warranty. They do in the US and have heard of some good dealers replacing them here in the U.K..

Nowadays it is more likely that it will be a reconditioning/refubish that will happen to your SBC pump. I had my one done this year and it wasn't cheap. I have also heard from another W211 owner who has a full service history with Mercedes (I do not) and they did it for free. @Wearsthefoxhat is correct that in the US Mercedes wanted to avoid litigation and gave the pump a 25 year warranty. Good luck and if you can get it done for free that would be great.

Hi there, thanks for the reply. When you got yours refurbished earlier this year, did they fit it and get it up and running as well?

Hi - My local specialist took it out, sent it off for reconditioning and then put it back in and made sure that it was all working. If you can do all of the work yourself you could send it off and get it reconditioned around £500. One thing I should have done was to call my local Mercedes Dealership and see if they would do it for free as they do in the USA. All they could do is say no.

i’ll try my luck in my local Mercedes dealer and see how I get on. Because the car is low mileage and in good condition will have to source someone who can recondition and fit for me.

Someone on the forum might know of a specialist near you. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
