I had a dreaded "SBC Hold unavailable" on my instruments today. Popped into the nearest dealer for a plug-in check and they say a £280 module needs replacing, which takes ... 3 hours!

The brakes work fine, aprt from the (very) handy SBC Hold function, obviously. Is it worth nigh on £700 (with the VAT) to restore the function?? I think I'll sleep on it.

The dealer talks about trying for goodwill (it's 10 months out of warranty) but I have my doubts that MB will cough up.

MB UK paid 90% of my SBC claim on a SL55 that was over 4 years old. The valve block (not main SBC pump) was leaking fluid very slowly. Bill would have been north of 2K :-(

Dealer was surprised as me that they paid so much, but then its a SL55 and I bought it new in UK so MB UK probably dont want me too upset with the brand.

and complaining to VOSA so sparking a possible expensive recall of all SBC equipped cars.
