ScanGuage II

Did you buy one? Your welcome to try mine ( if i ever get it back) if you could get it to work.

Nope. Was waiting to see how you're worked out.

I think the USA version has the same pins on the 38pin but maybe the ISO output is different.

That's why I wonder if the CAN connections may work. The CAN can be picked up either from the ECU or near the ignition switch.

Hi

I dont have pin 19 "Diagnostic Module USA" and thought that is what i needed. Jibcl500 kindly sent me by post a few pages from WIS.

The under dash socket was not fitted here over here in general. these things hit the UK around 98 the year of your car, it would seem that in the UK only new models brought out after 1998 had them fitted, , though my 129 1999 car had the hole under the dash there was nothing the other side.

I do have a US based WIS if there is any info that you need please ask

It's not the same on the W210 e300.

When I looked it appeared that the ISO-K line was indeed available and ran to the 38 pin connector but as we have no 16 pin OBD connector it didn't go further.

ECU pin-50 should go to 38 pin-4 and OBD pin-7.

if you could check where the connections for the 16 pin OBD socket come from it would be good.

WDB210025

:)

Socket is X11/22

I've read of people in mainland Europe picking up the OBDII information from pins 4 and 15 even though they have no OBDII socket.

These were on petrol engined cars though, but shows the ECU is outputting complient protocol.

Hi

I have tried (38 pin) 1,3,4,15 going to (ODB2) 4/5,16,7,15 but it still gives doesnt work correctly. Is there some sort of gateway that converts the signals??

Stumped!!:(

I have tried 4 and 15 as above.

Does your pin 4 pick up from pin 50 on the ECU.?

Just wondered as yours is a slightly older car IIRC.

If it needs it I wonder how much an OBD module would be.

Hi

No idea if it is the same as pin 50 on the ECU. How would i check?
Mine is late Nov 1998 build.

Think we need a USA spec car sitting alongside ours to make it simple.

Aghh, yours is slightly later than mine then...

Just perform a continuity check between pin-4 of the 38 pin connector and pin-50 of the ECU.

As yours is later it will be there, I'm sure.

Hi,
After lots of exploration, I can get loads of information off pin4 of the 38-pin plug. In my car (210.026) it connects to the Engine ECU but doesn't support traditional OBD-II comands. You need some S/W that supports KWP2000 protocol and can connect using a 5 baud "init" to address 0x7d (Hope this make sense!). After that, sending command 0x21 0x10 will give engine load, coolant temp, intake pressure, rpm, road speed, intake air temp, air mass and pedal position. Other comands give Oil temp, fuel pressure, atmospheric pressure, outside temp, A/C pressure, etc.
I use freediag s/w (written by Richard) so it can support many protocols. If Scanguage can do KWP2000, it might be able to connect.

Rgds, P.
