Hello all,
My wife and I have recently acquired a nice used e350cdi coupe 12 reg to replace ours that was stolen off our drive. Seems a lovely tidy high mike's example but a couple of niggles
1 - start stop not working ( reading forums indicates probably a battery condition problem).
2 - Both from seats will recline fully but won't go upright enough. Particularly a problem for mrs who is short and prefers a nice upright position.
Read lots of stuff on this and other forums and have tried the easy fixes or moving all the way back and holding extra 5 secs listening for clicks etc. also doing upright and repeating a few times this hasn't worked for us sadly. Also tried unplugging the cables from the seat controller under the seat and leaving for a minute and trying again. Didn't work either. They are memory seats and the memory function works fine on both seats. Also the seats both move in every direction fine so I think unlikely to be faulty switches.
I have read about dealers using star or specialists using xentry and also having SD reset done ( whatever that is 🤣).
I have also read about icarsoft mb being a good affordable tool. Am wondering about getting a new ir used icarsoft kit and trying to reset seats.

Has this worked for anyone? Can anyone who has a icarsoft MB version tell me if it has this capability?

I've heard the tool being recommended, is it intuitive? have good instructions ? Have good support?

Hoping for some help here, I really want to enjoy our new Ecoupe.

Thanks in advance...

Good afternoon and welcome to the Forum 👍

Icarsoft can be useful when trying to trace faults in modules but it isn't designed for nor does it have the software for coding or reprogramming modules.

For that you would need Star /Xentry which is not available (legally) to the public and some coding etc must be carried out whilst connected to MB Germany.

If you have other manufacturers vehicles in the family then the icarsoft Max, although a little more expensive has software for multiple marques. Bear in mind that are many OBD readers available with a wide range of differing abilities. Icarsoft is OK but a little clunky to use.

Do you have a Mercedes independent specialist near to your home?

I've often wondered why people put UK as their location rather than the nearest city etc? If we knew roughly where you live we may be able to recommend somewhere who might help.

Thank you for your helpful reply. Looks like icarsoft might be a waste of money for me in this case.
A trip to a nearby indie might be on order. Not sure where that us as we are here to the NE (County Durham).

Well in my case it was because I wasn't sure what the question location meant. Ie how sue ific a location was requested. Perhaps if it said city or start of postcode then people wouldn't miss understand like I did.
Anyway We are located in County Durham, so if anyone has any helpful suggestions as to someone with Star or Xentry not too far from me who light help at a reasonable cost I would be grateful...

Icarsoft (and other makes of scanner) can be useful diagnostic tools but if you have no intention of carrying out repairs yourself they are not really worth the cost.

Yes thanks for that. I'm really happy to attempt repairs myself but from what you are saying, looks like the scanner wouldn't allow me to do this one anyway.
Cheers.
