Hi,

I have an E220 2012 as a taxi. Just bought two weeks ago 36K miles. I have a 1 year warranty and 400/ yr after that. If I use a local mechanic to service my car it voids the warranty.

Could I possibly afford to stay with MB for servicing ? ( I would like to but have always thought their prices were very high compared to buying parts myself and fitting them with my local mechanic ).

Interested to hear your actual costings for the A and B servicing of this model.

I would imagine that a taxi's mileage would move the economic argument firmly toward the independent, assuming you can find one you trust who are cheaper than a main dealer. Are their any mileage or usage restrictions in the terms and conditions on the warranty that may further inform your decision?

Yes you can find reasonable prices for MB dealer service if you are willing to shop around and travel, but given that this is your business I doubt it would prove economic to travel for a service in terms of mileage and time spent off work with the car.

Your best bet would probably be a reasonably-priced indy who is also local to you.

The remains of the original manufacturer's 3y warranty (if any) should still be valid as long as original or OE parts are used for servicing, though extended warranties may have different conditions attached.

Hi,

Given some thought to it. I have a one yr warranty....covers quite a lot....with MB service at 10 sterling per week I just opted for that peace of mind.

Thanks for the replies,
