Hi all
I'm looking at buying a 1996 w210, but there is no service book with the car. Other than trying to speak to the previous owners, is there any way to trace the history?
Thanks

There is no central database that links up all of the MB dealers for servicing....coupled with the fact that many dealerships have changed hands over the last 10 years and work on different databases.
Can be very difficult to track down history....the best thing you can do is to check with your local dealer to see if the car had any warranty claims in its earlier life as this can point you in the right direction of the servicing dealer. but then if that dealership has changed hands in the last 10 years or so, you could find, that as already mentioned above, that they can no longer access the service history due to a change in computer databases.
Secondly contact the last couple of owners on the V5 and see if they can be of any help.
At this age I would buy on condition and not on service history.
Having said that, once the car is yours, it would be interesting to try and get as mush information as possible about its history - and said the DVLA will be a good starting point.
