"Service Now Due"

Please could somebody tell me if there is a way of cancelling this "Service Now Due" every time I start my car up? I appreciate that pressing the bottom (of 3 buttons) left hand side of clocks etc turns it off until next startup but is there a way of cancelling it other than going to a dealer
This is on a 1999 E300TD.

Yes, I have serviced the car myself. Thanks for pointing me to the book, should have done this first really!
