Hi everyone.

I currently have a different colour roof to my car, Wondered if anyone had a signal red roof they would like to sell or swap?

Should be pretty quick/cheap/easy to get it resprayed to match your car (I'm assuming this is the hard top!). Wonder what happened to the original one?

Yeah it's pretty reasonable to re spray, however just thought I'd test the waters see if anyone had one to part with for a reasonable price or swap and then sell mine 🤷‍♂️

No harm in asking! You probably want to mention what colour your one is though?

Ha, I thought I'd uploaded a pic but says its to big a file.
I believe it's midnight blue???

I think it's going to be difficult to identify the colour from a picture ... possibly even in real life. The R129 was in production for 12 years so there will probably be a number of dark blues that it might be. The car it came from would have had the paint code on a plate under the bonnet, but there won't be anything on a hard top AFAIK. Knowing the year might help a bit, but presumably you don't?

No when I bought the car I was told the previous owner had that colour because he preferred the two tone look.
I didn't buy it, but the car was a decent price so didn't bother me too much.

Yeah that sounds like BS, unless maybe the hood is also blue? It would be a pretty odd combination on a red car ... I'm not sure MB would even have supplied a car painted in two different colours. As mentioned unless there are two paint codes given under the bonnet it would be difficult to match the hard top if it ever needed repairing.

Smart looking car though. You know it's got '99 model year rear light clusters? It was a fairly popular mod. for earlier cars, along with the white front indicators and repeaters which came in with the '96 facelift. You could also fit the '99 onward oval door mirrors, although this is much less common.

I did not know that.

So what should they be?

I actually prefer the more square look of the pre facelift

It would have had the 'finned' rear light clusters like this, and orange front indicators + repeaters (replaced with white ones here):

These original light clusters were designed to be 'self cleaning' as the airflow helped sweep water & dirt off them.

The car above actually resulted in me buying an R129 - I knew nothing about them until this one started parking at the top of my road and I saw it on the way to work every day :D

The wheels on your car are also a later type, but look good IMHO.

OK cool, thanks for the insight.

The wheels I'm a little torn on. I fancy some monoblock, but other bits need doing first.
I actually hate the original wheels, for me they were a huge design fau pa.
