Silver 500E

Found this 500E on eBay last night:

500E

Seems like a solid example alkthough I have not seen the vehicle. I would advise any potential buyers to look out for:

- Check History/When it was serviced
- Check the accident damage/panel alightment/any structural damage (most 500's have had paintwork at some point of thier lives)
- The memory button on the passenger side is the wrong way - hence this has been taken apart at some point
- Check the Climate Control works
- Small hole in carpet next to centre console
- Check centre console - some type of alarm fitted at some point
- The E500 badge has been placed on - the older style W124 boot had the "500E" badge.
- I *think* the bonnet has been resprayed as I remember the previous owner had it rusty - not 100% sure so dont quote me!!
- Facelifted parts to the front (500e's had the pre-1993 parts)
- RHD lenses fitted for UK road
- Purchase value - probably £3000-£3500 maybe more depending on condition.

If I am wrong about anything please let me know and I will happily accept & correct. I have been looking out for a 500E/E500 although I would like a black with black leather model - if anyone knows of such a beast let me know!

i do know of one in birmingham, but i wreckon he will take the log book to the grave with him!

You also need to check that the wiring harness is 100% or preferably been replaced as you run the danger of it shorting and killing the Coil Packs and ECU....a £3500 bill.

Thankfully my old 500E had had the work done but I saw the invoices that the previous owner had to pay...not nice!

I believe the Limited spec had an 'unusual' two-tone pattern in the leather. My car was black with black but wasnt a Limited......

No - the E500 Limited had 2 tone interiors as explained by the user above. The E500 Limited also had options of different woods, such as Birds Eye Maple. Limited models were built from 1994-1995 (although I have heard of one thats 1993) and featured 17" EVO II wheels and a few other changes.

The first one looks mint and I was thinking about bidding. Although now I have seen a video on YouTube with it doing a burnout im thinking twice about its life - leave it! Nevertheless, they have to be toyed with at some point - its an 5.0L V8!

The first one has had side accident damage and a respray in 2003...probably doing one of his burnouts!
