Sl 350 roof

Hi guys need some help I have a sl350 3.7 2004 the (bcm) battery control module fried completelyburnt out .. so bought a really good one from ebay that fixed the red battery not charging problem and no warning lights on dash so well pleased with that cost me over £1050 . Anyway now got new problem roof not working fault code B1057-000 and had another B1018 basically says fault disturbance in can from control unit RCP Roof control module electronic missing
And control 30 for electronics missing for second code and a symble on dash of car opening roof please help .. cost me so much money fixing her just don't no where to look is there a relay fuse control module and anyone no location ??? I've erased codes that go but soon as I put ignition on or start they come back thanks guys in advance for any info with this steve

Not sure about this particular issue, but i do know that when i have changed parts i had to use the STAR system to reset / accept the changes ( Not me, my independent mechanic does all that sort of stuff ! )

Control 30 maybe circuit 30 which is permanent live so could be permanent live to a module so i would be checking fuses.

Certainly check the fuses. The ones behind the drivers seat.

OK found the box , behind driver seat removed it to check inside looks good can't smell any burnt anything...
checked all fuses all seem good but still any ideas ? I can remove error but soon as I start up they return there is 2 relays see 4th pic any one no what these are for ??? Thanks steve

It needs proper diagnosis with a Star machine and someone that is familiar with the roof systems. Its a guessing game without that.

Exactly my suggestion, saves so much time, and you could loosen / damage something else whilst 'in there'

Any MB specialist will have access to STAR.

OK thanks guys I'll have to try n find someone with star diagnostic to come to me as the car has no mot no tax no insurance kind regards steve

Exactly my suggestion, saves so much time, and you could loosen / damage something else whilst 'in there'

Any MB specialist will have access to STAR.

It needs proper diagnosis with a Star machine and someone that is familiar with the roof systems. Its a guessing game without that.

Just a thought ... My local garage has a snap on diagnostic scanner will this do the same as star as I can't find anyone locally to scanbmy ecu ???

Hi guys I'm really struggling with my car alot of good advice from you I thank you ... my roof needs resting you guys say I need stars diagnostic to reset the roof or to reset the values I can't use my car or take it anywhere , is there any other scanner apart from stars I can purchase that can reset the roof my self.. the scanner I bought pic 1 that seems to do alot is this one it comes with a benz adapter and a module to connect to car and lots of leads, before I buy a new roof module need to no what is what with it just might need reseting the BCM works well the battery light gone out so that's working. now I'm guessing this fault is due to it all being disconnected and the BCM getting fried . So does anyone no if this scanner pic 2 (icarsoft)can sort roof any help be great guys thanks

I suspect that you're going to waste time and money without solving the problem. I suggest it might be more economic to trailer the car to a local MB indie with Star, if you know someone who can do this for you. Alternatively try contacting local car electricians and ask if they have knowledge of and can resolve a problem with an SL roof.

Local MB dealer if trailering costs to an indi (MSL perhaps) out weigh their higher STAR costs.

You don't have homestart breakdown cover for you that cover this do you...?

Hi no my sl been in Storage for just over a year I kept the charger connected to convenient battery just to stop it going flat but it was a booster starter and i think it was switched on to boost on this this is what caused the BCM to fry.BCM Replaced and now need to put her on the road everything not working starts drives well the roof don't open boot don't work have to use key roll bar not working remote fob not working and also no insurance tax MOT my everyday car been in garage for 4 months now as they can't seem to fix my ford edge ford don't no so left to try put my sl back to work . My fox well diagnostic scanner well is a really high tech scanner GT65 just won't do roof to reset the roof thanks

Hi people , just wanted to say thanks for all your info regarding my sl350 but have made the decision to break her for parts as its cost me so much money repairing her with very expensive BCM box that is mint condition still with warranty so spoke to people with the stars system and there is nothing to reset with these and basically it's a question of erase codes and way you go but it seems the roof module is no good now so it's a money pit shame really as just changed rear springs new BCM and lots of new parts just seems fault after fault with these kind regards steve

That is a major shame, you must feel terrible. Might be worth advertising it with the existing issues and see if someone else would like to rescue the car? Must be worth something if the rest of it is in good order....
You could end up with all the good bits gone and the remainder to dispose of ...

Hi pioneer ...Yes I'm gutted been a beautiful car 3.7l drives amazing and on LPG it is a shame but these are amazing just changed rear springs too , new convenience battery Bcm replaced lh rear abs wheel sensor and few more parts .. I'll try that first as a project for someone who might be interested first but again thanks for all info steve...
