Sl soft top removal?

Hi there,

I have a salvage R129 SL with a mint soft top.I want to remove the soft top before the car has to be disposed off.

I want the complete frame etc, does anyone know where i could find a manual or tips on removal?

I might have a video - it should be pretty easy to remove - fitting is another matter as the whole roof has to be aligned properly.

That would be greatly appreciated. It just seems a waste not ot take it off, the canvas is literally like new, the rear screens have gone a light yellow shade but crack free.

I'm sure it can be off some use to someone!

Sorry Nav, I have a complete set of videos for replacing the soft-top in situ, but nothing for removing it.

It should be pretty straightforward though.

Really straight forward. There are 3 13mm bolts holding the frame to the chassis on each side, and one 13mm bolt holding the bottom rams on each side.

Took approx 1.5 hours to remove as some trim panels inside had to be removed and the pin that held the rams in place was a nightmare to get out.
