hi, hope someone can point me in the right direction. After a brief stop off today i got back in the car fired it up and it cut out, waited and retried same thing. Finally got going after a few hundred yards it died, waited again for a few minutes and it started.revs were bouncing for half a mile then it cleared and was o.k.Seemed like a fuel problem not enough getting in.Any ideas cheers. Carl.

Google mercedes crank position sensor, also called cps.
Normally seem to play up when hot.

Crank position sensor usually affects the later V6s (discussed here).

Has it done it since? Sounds like a MAS or fuel issue as you say.

Hi not used the car since i got it back.Going away upto Scotland in 10 days time so i`ll have to get it sorted by then, don`t fancy being stranded on the M6!thanks for the replies guys. carl

I would get the OVP (Over Voltage Protection) relay checked too. Neither it nor the CPS are particularly expensive but will leave you stranded when they fail.
