Hi all,

Hoping someone car offer some advice or experience on a problem I'm having with the central locking on my SL55. It recently stopped working and upon investigation I found the actual motor inside the vacuum pump was running on continuously to the point it was very hot to touch.

Had a quick look and it seems a motor is about £70 while the full unit is closer to £700. What's the chances I would get away with a new motor or am I looking at a full unit, is there anything else I can check to help identify what the exact problem is?

Thanks

The PSE should shut down to avoid this happening. Surprised the fuse hasn't blown - have you checked the rating? It should be 20amp (25 at a push) - in the storage box behind the driver's seat - just left of centre.

Something is calling for pressure - the only way to isolate what it is is via Star. There's a (remote) possibility that the compressor part of the motor isn't compressing - never heard of your problem before though

I've not seen motors for sale before - where did you see one at £70?
