I have a SL55 AMG that has given me a dipped beam R fault with no Xenon light coming on, I got a garage to change the bulb, but no joy. Is the next step getting the bumper off and replacing the ballast unit. The drivers, offside light is very difficult to get at. What is the next step, is there a fuse to check or is it a case of stripping the whole thing out and swopping with the LHS to diagnose the faulty component. Help gratefully accepted! Thanks Steve

Hi Steve
Have exactly same problem with my CL63 can you tell me how you got it sorted ... much appreciated

I have an SL350 with similar problem. First dipped beam L fault. Intermittent. Now it is happening to both L and R. Dipped beams will work back again after lights are off, but problem reoccurs. Is this bulb, ballast SAM? The strange thing is that is happening to both within that relative short period of time.

Interesting development. Today I utilised the dash panel light switch all the way clockwise (instead of the first step to auto) and dipped beams worked fine, both early morning and late evening, about 40 miles. This in priciple indicates the problem is not bulb not ballast related, and if it were light sensor related it would affect both dipped beams simultaneously (bit it doesn’t - one or the other or both randomly). So the only root cause left would be the SAM I guess.
Has any of the members experienced similarly? (PS thank you BG for your earlier comment)
