Sl60 amg

Dark colour suits the car.

Why does the clock only go upto 160mph? thought it might go a little faster than that!

On the grounds it's restricted to 155 under the gentlemans agreement. Therefore no need for anything more than 160. In theory...

Not a bad looking car. Aftermarket exhaust.
Unmarked Original Alloys
That is definitely not true. It would have had 3-piece AMG split-rims, those are much later (and cheaper) 1-piece wheels ... could even be replicas.

Looks like the radio aerial is jammed. Not a fan of the extra one on the OSR wing ... for a phone presumably. My phone antenna is on the windscreen.

The clock on my S600 goes up to 160mph that's restricted to 155mph like the SL. Most German cars are, I had an A8 4.2 that was supposed to be restricted but that did 165mph. Are all Mercs even newer AMGs restricted?

Bikes are generally restricted to 186Mph (those that can reach it) as part of a 'gentlemans' agreement. :dk:

I guess car drivers are more gentlemany than bikers :D

My 500sl has been faster than 155, not much, but I ran out of bottle before it ran out of puff, bloody scary mind you, very very light on the front!

It wasn't in the UK before I get flamed.

I think this car has been up for sale loads of times over the last year or two. Stats would know much more about this particular one I'm sure, but it's definately the one I'm thinking of - N60 AMG with the non-original wheels.

It's on Pistonheads too FWIW:

Mercedes : 1995 MERCEDES SL60 AMG

I could have sworn that it used to be dark blue, but that is one thing I'm not certain on now :o

Thats a very good looking SL60AMG.

Does the oil pressure have to be 3bars at idle?

Also, although pre-facelift, it does look very good with the older style AMG bodykit - more aggressive.

Although, if I was to buy one, 60-70k miles would be better.

It has, a dealer had it for over a year, I was going to see it at one point, then a better one surfaced.

That's also my recollection.

No, 2 bar at idle, 3 under throttle.

That's the SL60 that has been for sale for AGES.
I read somewhere that someone went to see it, and it was a bit of a dog.

Having said that, it does look good in the photos.

In my 500 handbook it simply says the pressure should increase above idle, and to stop the engine if it ever goes down to zero! :D

Correct, doesn't matter how low pressure is at idle, it should shoot to full pressure on increased throttle.

M119s have a weak point under the valve covers - the oiler pipes, made from plastic, get brittle and crack, resulting in loss of pressure.

cheap and not fun to replace.

2 bar at idle, 3 at throttle based on my SL. Obviously some cars will not achieve a full 3bar.

Note that 3 bar is not in any way a maximum oil pressure - the pressure can be as high as 5 bar under throttle...3 bar is just the maximum on the Merc gauge.

The 3 is more of an ideal than a max.
