I'm after a replacement windscreen for my 2002 C215 CL500. It has auto wiper/lights etc.
Mercedes want £499+VAT. A windscreen company quoted me £350+VAT fitted, but then changed their mind saying that they were looking at a 2003-on screen which has a different sensor arrangement, so the price went up to £600+VAT. I was quoted £180 by a breaker for a good used screen, but when I arranged to collect it (was 100+ miles away), he seemed to disappear off the face of the planet. I then found another one at another breakers who quoted me £120, but then broke the screen on removal.
Fitting isn't an issue, I just want a good used or new screen at a reasonable price. If I can't find an alternative over the next couple of weeks I will just go with the new screen from MB as they are the cheapest source so far for a new screen, and screens from breakers seem to be few and far between.
I would just like to see if anyone else can recommend a breaker, know of a car being broken or has a source for genuine MB parts at a more favourable rate than the dealers (or knows a dealer who may give a better discount!). I have some good sources of discounted genuine parts for a number of makes, but unfortunately, Mercedes isn't one of them!
