Only just spotted this...

You have an ABS moulded plastic pod that sits in the front door, it houses a 4&quot; mid and a 6&quot; mid/bass, they do unscrew from the housing, but you will have to adapt new speakers to fit as the mountings are very unusual.

Hope that helps,

if you need pics or anything let me know, as i have a pair of complete pods next to me at this very minute!!

Another thing to remember, this setup is wired to show a 12 ohm load (per side) to your stereo, if replacing speakers go careful, or change your h/u or add an amp.

Let me know if you need anything else. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Thanks a lot mate that is very helpful. Do I have to take the entire door cover off to get to the speakers. I have instructions on this if so however it would be much easier to without having to do so. A pic of the internal fittings would be much obliged to give me an idea of whhat type of speakers and harness to buy as I am sure u know the OEM speakers are pretty crap.
Thanks again

you do have to take the complete door panel off to access the speakers...

pic on its way... <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banana.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bannana:'>

had a closer look...
It is actually set up to present a 3 ohm load, not a 12...
The bottom speakers seems to be just glued in, whereas the small one is screwed and glued.

Thanks a lot that gives me an idea of what type of replacement speakers I shopuld look at.
Kind regards
