Hi Guys ,
recently bought my car 54 cl600 and loving it .!!!
Driving the other day noticed no sound coming from the drivers side speakers front and back .The other side is fine .
The system consists of Bose system ,single cd /dvd in the headunit in dash ,a seperate multi-disc holder in the boot ,with a sat nav disc in the boot also.

I am hoping it may be a loose connection somewhere ,but dont know where to start looking.

Can anybody help me get started looking at the connections and how to get at them please .There does not seem to be any holes to pull the stereo head unit out and I dont want to start pulling at trim and breaking things .
Any help greatly appreciated .
Regards
Rob .

OK sorry if this sounds obvious, but as you have two speakers off on the same side, have you checked the balance on the head unit isnt inadvertantly set to left or right?
Just an idea.

Yep checked that Dodge .

I thought it sounded strange when I first noticed so I moved the fade /balance to my side and it went deathly silent ,bar a little bass from the rear .

Could it be a fuse do you think or would a fuse knock out all speakers .I have heard these cars have a fuse for everything !!!

Many Thanks .

I had a similar problem which turned out to be the wires/connections in the front door having broken - £1k wiring harness replacement, door only, or repair the individual connectors (no prizes for guessing which I went for!)

I seem to remember it affecting the rear sound too - but it was some time ago.

I suspect it will be either an amp problem or a broken wire issue. The CL has a weakpoint in the drivers door hinge.

Ok Thanks fellas .

Is it a door card off jobby or just look around the rubber gaitor area for signs of broken wires ??

Is the door card easy to remove ??
(can anybody give me an idea as to how it comes off )

Would these wires if broken ,stop the rear speakers working also ??

Thanks for the help .

Having spent some time tracing broken wires in old Audi harnesses, the only reliable method is to use a multimeter - very rarely is the break in the copper discernible by visual inspection. And intermittent open circuits are even worse!

umm doesnt sound too good .

was hoping it was a loose connector or something .

has anybody removed their doorcard ,and was it easy .???

tried waddling the rubber boot on the door but it did not make the speakers come on .!!! you have to start somewhere !!!!

Slightly off topic but what number would be associated with my model of car(cl 600 on 54 plate ) ,eg 215 etc .
Not quite got my head round this part yet ,but everyone else seems to describe theirs by this number system .

And any more clues on sorting the speakers out would be good .
Many Thanks .
Rob .

Yes yours is a W215... first digits of chassis number.

Anyway it will almost certainly be broken wires in the hinge..

They are a weak point on both doors due to the double hinges that pull and bend the wires

Thanks jaymanek ,I guess thats were I will start looking then .

Well its still not fixed Im afraid .

In at an Independaent MB Garage that the dealer who sold me the car uses .They seem to think its the amp .

Dare I ask if anyone has had to replace one of these and how much it costs .????

Also ,could I replace it with a different make of Amp if I wanted a cheaper more sensible option .???

Regards
Rob.
