Spec amendable

Hello guys. First post so go easy on me. Can someone please explain to this novice new car buyer what spec amendable means?

Im looking for a new c class c220 and the sales chap says theres none about but can get a spec amendable buy end of july....what does he mean?

welcome..

a build slot has been allocated to a car, and until it hits the cut off point, you can change the colour, options etc to your requirements.

so you basically are intercepting a car that is going into build, but you have some days or weeks to finalise the options specific to you!

That makes an awful lot of sense, thank you. So simply put, the car is on the production line or nearly there and i can change the spec as i see fit.

Thus i take it i am wrong on thinking that the car has already been made and that the spec will be amended retro?

It will not have been built yet. They are changeable up to a certain date ahead of built. Cant remember exactly when. Our SLK was like this. Someone cancelled their order and it was then offered to me. The spec deadline for it was 4 hours after the phone call! Managed to get it sorted though.
