My rear exhaust has finally holed through. I spotted this on ebay - £280 for a bespoke cat back system, fitted & done. An aftermarket rear box at euro's is the same price!

My only concern is doing this to a diseasel, the 5 cylinder 2.7 isn't exactly the quietest engine in the world either! Any thoughts/experiences welcome!

How old is the car?

If you're intending to keep the car for a long time ... and assuming the exhaust has been well-engineered ... it's probably a good investment

G o for it. In my expereince aftermarket exhaust are fine.. I paid £30 for a rear box on my old 210 some years back. Did an excellent job.

Its the cheapest fitted exhaust I can find anyway.

Just worried stainless will naturally drone a fair bit on a diesel. I have stainless on the 190 which is deeper than stock even though its close to original in design (3 silencers).

I had a stainless system fitted to a couple previous cars, one was on a diesel, and found it to be no more noisy than the stock item, and it worked out cheaper and with a lifetime warrantee , I would not buy from ebay etc, I suggest finding a local supplier/fitter who will custom make/fit and that way you get to choose the tailpipe shape etc
I was happy with mine and it is a good point when you are selling.
