The pre-Dec 2018 models remember the driving mode for up to 4 hours but as you can see from the information below this has been disabled to save the planet.

Shame, but what do like is that if you hold the left paddle down and press start you get a rather splendid exhaust note compared to the comfy slippers setting.:thumb:

Additional changes to C 63 and C 63 S due to new regulations, effective from November Dek 2 production

The last driving mode is no longer remembered, vehicles will now always start in Comfort mode
  • Vehicles now have a quieter starting sound, the louder start is made possible by pulling the shift paddles during start up

You can’t post anything about a W205 c63 on any forum or group without someone replying how the w204 sounds better. Don’t get me wrong, I love the w204’s, and think they sound awesome. Just wondered what the reasons were behind w204 owners/fans posting negative views?

You can't post anything critical about a 205 without a 205 owner getting defensive. I didn't actually say it sounded better but you immediately jumped to the conclusion that this was my main point. Not surprising as you're right, there is a commonly held view that the 204 sounds better.

The best cars just work and don't need all sorts of button pressing to get the best from them. For example, a well sorted passive suspension setup copes with bumps but also offers excellent body control without having to overly soften or stiffen the dampers electronically to give different modes, neither of which end up being perfectly matched to the spring rate which doesn't change. A good gearbox doesn't need 5 settings for how fast it changes gear, it's smooth and quick all the time. A good exhaust is well judged so that it's not intrusive but still makes a pleasant sound. Etc...

Chris Harris explains it well in this video in terms of the difference between a car with too many settings and one that just works.

Well said sir !

If anyone thinks the 205 sounds on par with the 204 C63 they need a handful of cotton buds for earwax removal.

You misunderstand me, I didn’t come to that conclusion about the sound from your specific post it was more of a generalisation of the usual posts ie Post under yours by Skd884.
Nor am I being defensive, hence why I didn’t list all the things which I think are better with the W205 to defend it.
I asked why W204 feel owners feel the need to post negative views on threads about W205’s ?

Lets all be friends...

The thread was started to share some information with new owners of the face lift C63 as there are differences which aren't in the manual and as I was daft enough to upgrade to the latest version I will be more aware than some.

We are all friends :D We all love Mercs at the end of the day.

I just watched the Chris Harris video , I enjoyed it , loved the drifting . Glad that was shared .

Chris Harris did explain it well.....7 years ago in a 7 year old Audi vs 7 a year old merc. Thank goodness technology has moved on and now much easier and refined. Individual mode is the only button I press. Which gives the perfect balance of sport suspension and sport+ engine and exhaust. Nice to have sport+ Suspension available for track days though.

Best to enjoy the cards before we're forced to buy Hydrogen fuelled shite with 70mph on the clock.

When I start up, I normally click start once and then change the driving mode to individual or click on the performance exhaust, is that not the same?

Dan

Not quite, the holding the paddle down only produces a better startup noise but you can use the same trick as you describe to activate whatever you want.

But there are people that like the choices......

View attachment 85121 Oh boy. It arrived today. And the heavens came down. Agree with 540YMX the emotion startup is outrageous. Exhaust note in Comfort is a lot louder than the pre face lift. I’m super excited.

That looks familiar, you nicked my motor?

You have excellent taste!:thumb:

8 track?
