Steering Column

Hello everyone, I have a W204 C Class 2009.

I have split the steering column from the rack to remove a seized ESL, I have put it all back together using an emulator.

All working fine but I now have the traction control warning on the dash display.

I have checked the brake light switch and the brake lights are working, so I assume it's not that.

I have read that I may have put the steering wheel one turn out, although the wheels align and the angle sensor is misreading the angle. I have tried the calibration method with not luck.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem and how was it rectified??

Also if I have to turn the wheel align the sensor, can I split the column from the rack by just splitting the joint or do I have to dismantle the steering column again?

Any help appreciated...

Small point - there are often two sets of contacts in a brake switch. One set for lights, the other for the ECU. It is possible for the ECU set to fail and the other set be OK hence lights show.

Thanks for the info, I'll have a look to see if I can find the ECU set...
