Steering wheel squeaking.

Recently my electric steering wheel has started making a noise as though rubbing slightly, but only when moving in towards the dash, up/down and away from the dash is fine, any idea's.

Recently my electric steering wheel has started making a noise as though rubbing slightly, but only when moving in towards the dash, up/down and away from the dash is fine, any idea's.

Can’t help exactly but had this problem on a car and used a long nozzle on tin of W D 40 with a rag to hand and reached in around all I could get at where movement occurred and sprayed using rag to wipe off surplus, had to do this daily for a few days and eventually it did help , not a total cure but helped , I even tapped surrounding covering with palm of my hand as I done it , mine sounded like plastic to plastic. Sorry can’t help further.

Thanks for the reply, funnily enough, it's stopped doing it, someone suggested it's because of the cold snap, things do start to creak, hopefully it is that, fingers crossed.
