Stop the car and put it in "P" Leave engine running.

Hi, Jumped in the car (C Class 14 plate 2.2 Diesel Automatic Blutec W205) and the above massage appeared on the dash,

with w​

hat look's like a Battery symbol with a exclamation mark over it. No indication as to how long I should leave the engine running. Can any one tell me what's going on ?

Many thanks for your reply, I drove it home left it for a couple of hrs. Started it up and all seems ok again. Fingers and every thing else crossed.
