The strangest thing happened last night while giving the wife's sister a lift home...

I hit a large pothole in the road (completely unavoidable). As I did, I momentarily lost engine power and had a flash on the ABS light, it resumed to drive normally after the initial bump. I have checked in the engine bay for loose wires and haven't found anything... Just wondering if I attach the Multiplex would I get a reading, a stored fault code or something that may help trace the problem!

Or has anyone had a similar experience?

Yes, I am aware I have spelt strange wrong!

Brake light activation causing the power to drop and switch to have a minor paddy so bringing on the ABS light.

Are you sure it wasnt the 'ASR' light that flashed?............hitting the pothole could have caused the wheel to bounce and spin freely momentarily activating the asr which would also cut the engine power because the system thought you had wheelspin.

Definitely the ABS light. I don't have traction Control on my car!

Im afraid my wife doesnt have a sister, good job as bouncing about with sister in laws is bound to get you in trouble :D
:D:D You haven't seen her! I only gave her the lift to save her hanging about! I keep a photo of her on the dashboard of the car to scare the car thieves away from it!:D

No, she isn't... she prefers Vauxhalls... I quite like Vauxhalls too, I have had loads of them in the past....
Lots of VXs here too.

Sudden, unexpected, change in speed of a (undriven?) wheel causing an ABS sensor fault to be registered briefly? With a short dip into limp mode as a result?

Cluching at straws there really.

That is plausible though! As is most of the replies...
I took the car out for a bit of a drive and it did it again! It seems as if there is an electrical fault, as if the ignition is cut momentarily?
