Guys,
Saw this HU on ebay. anyone know what kind of world-of-pain would I be getting into if I went for it?

7 inch 2 Din touch screen Bluetooth USB/TF/FM DVR/Aux Input Australia #Cu3 | eBay

It has (Allegedly):-
GPS navigation
SD-Card Music/Video Play
FM Radio

I lost interest after that because that's all I need...
I'm worried that the amplifier in my W164 needs something obscure like a optical input, or there is some other reason that this will turn out to be a bit of a paperweight.

It will need a facia/adapter to fill the strangely-shaped dashboard opening in the ML, which will leave some large areas of black plastic around it....I'm concerned the overall look will be a bit Naff..

I already have a no-name Chinese Head Unit in there which was installed by the PO, but the Micro-SD card slot is ejecting the card all the time instead of latching-in, so it has to go...

These cut price Chinese Head Units are generally of very poor quality and in many instances use cut price components, shoddy wiring and rarely work as intended. Dynavin are probably the only Chinese manufacturer of head units which get anywhere near the quality of the more established Japanese and European brands.

Can you not find something similar from a UK seller. Seems lots of choice on Ebay for a 7" double din unit. They are all multifunctional, bar making coffee.!
It might be a few bob more but by the time you get caned for Import Duty, Vat, and the fee charged for collecting the money, then there is not a lot in it. Also, if it goes wrong its easier to send back?

Very poor quality avoid, I had one that was utter garbage.

The old adage 'if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is' still works.

Looks like I'm sticking with my present No-Name Head unit then.

It's not too distracting, driving with one finger holding-in the SD card.....

Seems like a great solution.

That, or a blob of blue-tack. The micto-SD Card slot is hidden under a dummy button anyway...

I think I might have just saved enough for Thursday night's first round!
