I read this thinking that only yesterday my Daughters came home from school with their class photos. How fortunate we are, not to have to think, as those in this article must have had to think.

Exact story in my life! My mother's parents were refugees from Russia, just before the revolution. Her family were wealthy (ish) merchants from St.Petersburg before but when the rumblings of the revolution began they escaped, but with only their clothes and a few trinkets and travelled across Europe. My Grandmother used to tell me of her trip on the ship to England when she was very young - fascinating!
