Many thanks to Alfie today. Diagnosed the problem in minutes, and I was on my way home in less than an hour fully repaired!

About a month ago the hands free cradle fell apart and the whole Comand system was dead on my 2003 W211. Got it on Star which confirmed it was a problem with the Telephone system and an open loop on the fibre optic ring. My local Indie in Kent who does a good job servicing the car said he could fix it no problem. Three hours later he phoned and said it was more complicated than he thought and would need more time!!! I took the car back, and decided it would be worth the 200 mile round trip to Lightwater in Surrey to seek expert help.

Booked an appointment for a diagnosis, and dropped the car off half an hour early. Wandered across the road and before I finished my coffee, Alfie called and said he found the problem, and did I want the microphone control unit replaced. Less than half an hour later I was cruising back home with full audio/ Nav/ telephone functionality.

Friendly expert advice and service. Well worth travelling the distance.
