Right guys, I fell like I need to drop this in. I know there are a few mac users out there. And a few of you would have done something silly at one point.

Well today I did something very silly. I dropped my ipad on my keyboard, and smashed two keys. I immediately went into a panic. I was worried for both devices. I've barely had my new laptop for a month, and my pad for less than a week, I'd say a long weekend. Furthermore, I've only had the paddle since Monday.

Thankfully, There was no damage to the pad. and only the key caps on my keyboard broke. I dreaded going into apple to get them to sort this out, especially since I don't have a lot of free time.

Several quick searches, on Google, later, and a tenner poorer, I sorted my self out. theBookyard.com:thumb:

I was always going to spend money sorting this issue out anyway, so I thought why not. 20mins later, I can now get back to looking up that pasta recipe. I still fell like a utter ar$e .

It's great to know that there are still companies that will sell you just the part you need, like a key cap, rather than a complete unit. I think Mercedes-Benz (and most other car companies) could learn from this.

And if it makes you feel any better, I managed to knock my week-old Medion all-in-one touch-screen PC (mentioned on another thread) off the coffee table the other day. It hit the hardwood floor with a sickening crash and I was prepared for the worst. I thought at the very least the casing would be cracked and the LCD screen would probably have suffered. But no, not a mark on it! All that happened was that the DVD drive door sprang open and the PC started re-booting itself. I was quite amazed at having got away with that.

Sounds like your iPad is also quite a tough customer. :)

Well I think this is purely because apple are a bit of a geeks machine. So a site like this is bound to crop up. A bit like ifixit.com but for us Brits / Europeans. I'm quite happy with the service. I made a mistake on my order, called them up after posting and amended it. Didn't even take them 5 mins.

I'm amazed at my mbp, didn't even make a dent (on the keyboard) or damage the underside of the keys. Just the caps. Apple were always going to use refurbed parts so I thought I'd just do it me self.
