Mercedes not stocking thermostat for E270 CDI anymore so need to order from Autodoc as ECP only have Starline in stock. Any particular preference out of Gates, Dayco, Metzger, Febi Bilstein??

Mahle is ok as well. I thought it was oem tbh. Just the stat needed; not the housing as well.

I wanted Mahle but when I checked with my mb specialist when I picked the car up yesterday he said wouldn't know how to put the thermostat in the housing, has only ever had them OEM with the housing. Autodoc have Mahle on its own but with housing they don't have.

I obtained a Wahle stat from Autodoc for the C200 a couple of years ago.
Good item .... No problems ... Good price too.
The one I took out was same make and type.

If a "mechanic" told me that I'd be looking for a new mechanic. Honestly? It is a very simple job. No one ever used to change the housing; what a daft waste of money.

I fitted genuine MB but would have gone for Febi had they not been available. I bought the housing complete with temp sensor and gasket.

Not sure but rang them and they said no longer stocking it in UK or Germany and my MB specialist was told the same thing.

They don't make genuine thermostats for MB no more?

Why Febi as opposed to MB? My experience is that Febi can be a bit of a lottery in terms of quality. Febi has a pretty poor name on many MB forums.

However, I did strike lucky with Febi flex discs. I was going to return them as I'd ordered Lemfoerder but when I saw that they were made by SGF, confidence was restored.

I prefer genuine MB for most engine/gbox stuff. Chassis parts are Lemforder and Brembo for brakes, used Febi for the odd filter Etc and never had any problems. My indi uses some Febi stuff, He is ex Mercedes diagnostic trainer.

Nearly all MB parts are made by someone else....there are very few MB parts really.....just other makes in MB boxes.

Ordered the Wahler one with housing, hopefully will be ok.... Thank you for advice.
