Hello again.

Just this week I've noticed a clicking noise from the car. Most noticeable at idle but definitely related to engine speed.

The sound is emanating from the front of the car.

What do you think this could be? The car is not in gear at the time by the way. Any ideas??

Thanks

Could be so many things.

Tappets?

Somthing rubbing on the belt?

It needs to be heard really.

Make a video and put it on Youtube

Quite probably the belt tensioner.

I guess it could be tappets. Are they self adjusting?

Belt tensioner sounds important. Sounds like another trip tp the garage. I'm getting a bit disillusioned with my first Mercedes :(

Tappets are self adjusting, the belt tensioner isn't a big job, it just tensions the auxillary belt on the front of the engine.

Could it be the valve which is marked "MOT" located on the N/S front, something to do with emision control from the fuel tank ? Mine ticks sometimes, but told not to worry about it as it is normal. Is it normal ?

Hmmmm, this ticking sound looks like it could be lots of things then.

Could this ticking sound be the sound of "buy a new car" LOL

look under the bonnet see if its been clocked......:D

Maybe the German police missed a terrorist, and theres something on your car that shouldn't be there.....

:) The German police did a good job there.

It's make or break time in a couple of weeks anyway. I might get shot of it or maybe fix it up. Depends how I feel on the day.
