Hi, after reading loads of threads regarding TMS in Kirkham I have made the decision to book the SL in for its B service on Monday/Tuesday. Met Ian today and he seems like a nice guy and the garage looked pretty busy with plenty of Merck about which was encouraging. Ian explained that his B service includes gearbox fluid and brake fluid and pads change which mercedes don't do as part of their B service. Fixed price B service at £301.
Also having his valeter go over the entire car inside and out with special attention to cleaning the rubbers which have gathered a nice green coating of algae due to the previous owner parking it in the side and not really going anywhere in it.
Will report back on Wednesday when I collect the car.
Cheers for everyone feedback and recommendations on this.:thumb:

Odd?.

Hi, just had a very odd Pm this evening from Shelagbh warning me about taking my car to TMS. The message says that TMS are not merc trained etc, don't have liability insurance and when they reck my car I will have no come back.
Have to admit that worried me for a couple of minutes as the car is due to be taken in to the TMS first thing tomorrow morning. I then read and searched the threads and have come to the conclusion that this person is part of what to a outsider looks like a witch hunt all stemming from a disgruntled customer. I found a post that leads me to think that Shelagbh is the Girlfriend of the disgruntled customer and is looking to put people off taking their cars into TMS?. I have read enough on here from enough people that know what they are taking about when it comes to Mercs to feel comfortable taking my car there.
I met Ian last week and chatted through what the b service would involve etc and I felt happy the would look after the car. I am quite new to this forum and haing used BMW forums for some years when I had an m3 I am quite disappointed that this kind of thing is happening. Everyone s entitled to their opinion and collective sharing of info is one of the main objectives of a forum but it should be done in public not behind closed doors in an Nederland manner in the form of a private message.
The car goes in tomorrow and. Will make my own mind up on TMS and I don't need anyone sending me negative pm's which quite frankly are not being sent because you actually don't want me to take my car there they are being sent to try and get one over on Ian and the lads at TMS?
Will report on Wednesday how I found everything with TMS but so far I am happy with them.
Thanks

FWIW

I have no connection with Ian or the rest of his team.

However, I had an issue with my car and Ian brought his STAR unit to a Scottish GTG in Stirling (a trip of 200 miles plus each way) and plugged it into my car and diagnosed the issue for me and explained it was a simple fix for me to do and how to do it. It was a Crankshaft Sensor replacement.

No charge for this. This is my measure of the man.

There are lots of people on this forum, and others, who give advice without being Mercedes trained. They give it via their experience and knowledge. They give it free of charge and have solved many issues and saved countless thousands of pounds. Are they wrong ?

Are Mercedes dealers always correct ? Do they fix cars in the cheapest manner possible ? Do they adhere to their warranties 100% ?

Go to Ian and let us know your feelings about the service etc. ...

Report the PM to the mods , surely a ban is in order for sending that to you ?

+1^ They do not and never have added anything good to this forum...but sneak around in the background with a vendetta. The boy friend lost in court...

Thank you all for the vote of confidence. I expected and expect emails and pms to potential customers from various people. I will not name them but if you look at the other site it is very plain to see who they are. One is a competitor of mine who I have never met. Another will thousands of posts makes up stories (unbelievable). Anyway, I am bigger than getting into a slanging match with sore losers. They will naturally read this and I ask them to contact Lord and Lady Flanagan (Lord Flanagan set up Emirates Airlines) and pass on their poison. As I have their W113 250SL in here for re commissioning (car not run since 1990). Oh and as a side note it used to belong to Twiggy.

Surely you're not referring to TrapperJohn????? lol

(No offence, John :D)

It's Shelaghb, the partner of banned alfie07 who together with banned big john have devoted their lives to hounding this business across the internet & Mercedesland.

She's their underground agitator on this forum & maintains their presence & crusade against W124 Works, TMS & IBW. Been PMing people (including me) about this for years - http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/986361-post30.html

IBW, could you post the court judgement of the case you defended & won in a PDF so this can be settled in the open once & for all?

Also be on the look out for "Mexican Gaz", their favourite (but obviously struggling) indi.

Shelaghb will cease to exist shortly.

This forum should not be used as a tool to fight ones battles, especially since this particular issue has already been through the courts and found in Ian's favour.

I had some Mexican gaz after a burrito once

In Newcastle, coal is for the fire and gaz is Fajitas, like. ;)

As promised. Having read almost all of the activity surrounding Ian and TMS or 123 Works on the forum I decided to book my newly bought 2003 SL500 into Ian at TMS for a B service and make my own mind up about the situation.
As a completely new and neutral person I have to say that everything was 100% spot on. I found Ian a nice guy who has done a good job on the car as far as I can tell so far. A few good points worth noting here. The wiper blades he ordered in as part of the service were not required at this stage so rather than just fit them anyway (many would) he didnt, left them in the bex and in the car so I have a spare set now waiting to fit when these do eventually go. Nice touch.
Second point worth noting. Ian saved the brake pads from the front wheels to show me as they were very low. Again, not many would do that. Another point here is and it might only be something that I would notice or care about but I think it is a good sign of a workman or mechanic in any trade that when he said your pads were very low, "here I will show you" he went straight into ther garage and knew exactly where they were. Silly little point but I think it says a lot.
I asked him to have the rubbers cleaned and the recess under the rear window and around the boot cleaned as there was a build up of moss/algae etc on there as the previous owner didnt use the car much and parked it under a tree in the shade. They have done a lovely job of that and treated all of the rubbers with a silicone gel to protect them from sticking and tearing. They look 150% better now.
Weirdly, a section of the cover tray underneath at the back of the car was missing (probably not put back on previously) anyway whilst I was in the office Ian showed me the exact part on the PC and called his supplier for a price. I have ordered the part and I an is fitting it for me on Friday afternoon.
So folks, take it from a neutral with no history or axe to grind either way that TMS and all the guys there have done a lovely job on my car and I have found them to be nothing but honest and straight up with me.
I would say to all the haters out there, that it would seem the past issues have been resolved in court and your fight with TMS isnt really supported on this forum. To anyone who hasnt used TMS and is thinking of it I would happily recommend them based on my experience this week.
Have a Banana Ian.
