Too young for an E Class?

If ride quality is important to you then you wouldn't have liked the C Class Estate - my C270 (on 16" wheels and not got sport suspension) is almost painful on anything other than billiard table surfaces.

The W203 estate that I had yesterday was a 06 plate face lift car Avantgarde and ride quality/suspension seemed pretty good - that too had 16" alloys.

Well that's the same model (mine's late 2004, facelift) as mine. It's substantially better with Michelin rear tyres, replacing the original Bridgestone Turanza's (which I still have on the front).
With Bridgestone's it honestly felt as though the car was riding on iron rings rather than tyres. It's still like that to some extent, and certainly I do everything I can to avoid any bump in the road, and I brace myself if I can't. Tyre pressures are spot on, and I've tried lowering them a couple of pounds too.

'Old man's car' - I always take that to mean that old men have more disposable income, and can afford to spend more on a nice car.

A compliment if you will, motivated by feelings of inadequacy.

Anyhow I'm not bothered, in another year or two I'll have another TVR Chimaera/Griffith as a second car and people can think what they like.

Oh well , ive got 17" wheels on my avg sport and it rides ok to me.

hehe the old mans car.

Ive had a few prestiege cars namley a bentley turbo R, MB E55 and am XKR convertable and you either get the attitude "hes driving dadies car" or "whats he driving and old mans car for?"

Ill tell you why cause were sensible we realise for new golf gti money we can get a superspeced MB etc

I have never lost money on a car an i think this is why i never buy new....i like to buy cars which are 2-3 years old and have had the big wack of depreciation and run it for 6months and sell it on. Its great driving these cars...my friends always say there pimp cars but whats wrong with luxury?

Im currently neg. on a brabus d6 which has done 30000 miles, black with amg kit and all the toys for £20k will be a good everyday car and every bit as good as BMW's over priced 535d (BMW wanted 30k from me for a 2 year old 55,000 model)

maybe in a few years ill get somthing a little less big like a 996 turbo :)

My girlf says she's never seen an attractive man get out of a Porsche or a Ferrari because it's always short fat middle-aged baldies that buy them after getting dumped by their wives. Not entirely fair, I say, some men let their sons drive.
Sold the Porsche tho not short fat and bald but plead guilty to the other charge.

Don't know why but feel ageless getting out of a Mercedes.

Hi All,
Thanks for the replies, now I have a couple of questions.....

1. Got an annoying knocking sound from the NSR. Doesn't occur on all bumps, but a real loud noise when it does occur. Almost like someone knocking my rear floorpan with a sledge hammer!! Dealer had a quick spin (apparently), but couldn't find anything. Thoughts?
2. Have heard that some 03 models come with an Audio gateway (I would like OEM SatNav), so I thought I might have a look. I found that part of the passenger footwell was damp after taking the carpets out. Looks like its getting in from a compartments on the passenger side which is covered by a black polystyrene "plug". Thoughts?
3. Where is the AGW on the S211 (Estate)?

Anyone got any thoughts on the items above.

Many Thanks for your helps.

Rgds

James
