Hi all
I am fitting aftermarket wheels to my e class and trying to understand what is involved with fitting tpms sensors to the wheels.
I know I have tpms sensors in the wheels as I have the alloy tyre valves and I can see the pressures on the dash in the Speedo binnacle.
Do I just buy the sensors get them fitted to the wheels and they then sort themselves out after 15 mins of driving or do they need to be coded to the car via star?

Thanks

Buy the sensors that are compatible with your car and they won't need coding. There are a number of companies that do aftermarket at a fraction of MB's prices, but just make sure that are compatible.

Surely, even compatible sensors need registering (coding) to the car, so the control module knows which sensor to look for?

I recently bought a set of alloys and winter tyres, not from Mercedes, with TPMS sensors fitted. Before buying I checked with the company if they would need coding and was assured they would be OK. They said I might have to drive a few miles before the car picked them up, but in the event they seemed to work straight away. As mentioned above, you would need to check that they are compatible with your car.

Thanks all for the input I was struggling to understand them.
Any one got links to compatible sensors. I found some Chinese clone merc ones on fleabay which were £70 for all four but they seemed too cheap and not sure if they would work.
