Got a spare c tek charger and want to use it on my e55. I keep getting the "convenience functions disabled" message despite having a new battery. Will using the trickle charger stop this and (stupid question alert) I'm assuming this should be used on the main battery ?

Convenience functions are normally driven off the auxiliary battery, charging the main battery wont help if the auxilairy battery is knackered.

Okay thanks. There must be something draining that battery as it's almost brand new.

Anyone else have have this problem?

Connect the cteck to the battery in the boot Nick. I assume your aux battery under the pollen filter is in good shape? If its older than 5+ years, you may need another.

These W211's seem plagued by battery drains.(W219's too) I put my 12 month old Bosch battery on charge Wednesday for 20hrs on a 6amp charge. Started it today and the convenience message popped up. I though I had cured my drain but it appears not. I have a 2 year old OEM aux battery fitted too.

You need to go through all the fuses for a drain. Up to a total of 65ma was considered acceptable.
I suspect my Comand not shutting down properly.

Thanks both. I will give the trickle charger a try. I had Terry at Wayne Gates check for battery drains a year ago and nothing came up.

Right that's it connected. Will report back. Thanks for the input.

Yeah boot charge should help. Put it in recondition mode for 24 hours - I find that normally helps

Is it not different on a S211 the charge points?

I know for the saloons that the charger is connnected to the battery in the boot.

I have a small drain on my car but I have managed to pin point it to the lowering control module, so I just keep it topped up with the CTEK charge if it’s not going to be driven for a while.

I've had battery drain for over a year battery lasts about a week if I'm lucky. Will get it fixed one day

have you changed both batteries?

main battery on mine only lasted about 3-4 years, changed the aux battery once and convenience messages disappeared.

couldn't leave it more than two weeks otherwise battery would drain, I think this was die to the lowering module... or some frayed wires which the new owner found in the doors.

I used a ctek when the car was not being used, connected to the main battery, never had to charge up the aux battery.

Thanks for the input all. 24 hours on "recondition" on the CTek and no sign of the convenience warning. Obviously something is draining the main battery so I will just leave it on the CTek from now on when not is regular use.
