My car is a W215, model year 2000

I have installed a TV, as the car was pre-wired for this, but discovered that the car did not have the TV amplifiers for the aerial.

Now I have the chance to buy a new amplifier at a reasonable price but it is for a later model

The part number is A215 820 16 89

The part number for my car should be A215 820 03 89

Both parts show up on inchcape at the same price.

Does anyone know if there is any material difference and if that renders the newer part useless for my car?

These look very same parts by functionality. Both come with option codes 860/862. The "16 89" has been used up to 9/2002, likely the one you should have had from the factory (even if the newer one should fit too).

Edited: I got it the other way round, like you say the "16 89" is a later part, from 9/2002 onwards and the "03 86" was up to 9/2002. Better get a second opinion but to me these are 100% compatible parts (the later one may have some improvements).

860 is TV tuner and 862 is provision of installation of television.

Which was also what the seller said. Does anyone else have a view before I part with my hard earned cash?
