Twiddly thing in glovebox

Had a look inside the glovebox in the CLS today, whilst searching for the non-existent handbook.
Whilst I didn't find the book, I found a flat, twiddle dial on the upper face of the glovebox.
I have absolutely no idea what it's for! Does anyone here know what it is?

Does the CLS have a feed from the air-con to the glovebox to keep it cool in warm weather? If so, is it the chiller shutoff?

I’ve got one of these in my E. Certainly sounds like the same as Chris has. Trouble is I always forget which wade you have to twiddle it!

That could make sense. I can't see anything in the online handbook as yet.

I had a yr2000 Opel Astra that had this . When the aircon was blasting the glovebox goy VERY cold. A simple thing that should be in every car.

That's the big problem with the MB online manuals - you can't 'browse' them (other than a very basic 'getting started' type section), so if you don't know what to search for you are stuck.

I've also learned about so many features I didn't know the car had by flipping through paper manuals in the past.

I had a yr2000 Opel Astra that had this . When the aircon was blasting the glovebox goy VERY cold. A simple thing that should be in every car.

I had a Vauxhall Signum Elite and it had a fridge in the back with picnic tables! And air conditioned seats. On paper it was great but i could never gel with it, so sold it.

Yes.
I have managed to, eventually, find what I think is the correct manual.
I have also seen somebody advertising the complete CLS owner's pack, complete with the CD/DVD discs, so, although I already ordered a handbook, I might purchase it so I can have the proper set.
