Two 'new' old Minis.

I don't know. - You could do like MCM and drop in a more exciting engine to make a real sleeper.

Given that they've only driven 12 miles, they'll probably go in to someone's shed.

...A thing of beauty if in good nick and cleaned up.. mk 1 and 2 Cooper and S type minis go for 10-50k dependant on the history.. coach built Minis by Radford , Wood and Pickett and to a lesser degree Hooper with full leather, wooden dash plus multi function equip..Tinted glass, period alloys, sun roof etc etc along with period BMC racing minis from 62 onwards go for up to 100k !!!... amazing but true.. E Type prices and some !!!!.I know... I owned 3 !! but then some people hate Vdubs and some love em.its the same thing...... I guess its like Marmite... lol. foxy52

They will have to go into a collection. If they get used the price will drop.

Had lost that iconic big central speedo with the warning lights and fuel gauge which was part of the orginals appeal . Later to be resurrected by BMW.
The mini cooper version with the extra gauges.

I own a 96 JDM Mini Cooper 35th Anniversary edition. I purchased it impulsively last year and was very nervous because I didn't know what I was getting into.

There isn't a day that goes by when the car doesn't leave a giant smile on my face. Or when dozens of passers by don't smile and point at the car in awe, sometimes stopping me to make me an offer to buy it.

As much attention as my W123 gets, it pales in comparison to the Mini. Doctors should recommend the car as therapy.

Cute cars but I wouldn't want to be in a crash in one. Back in the day we used to have a 1972/L Clubman ... good fun.

The first car I ever drove was my grandmother's Mini, on a disused airfield. I was 11 or 12 I think!

I think old minis are great, never had one I just really like them.

These two have to be worth very strong money! They are unused! And as long as they are rust free I think that's great find!

Without a doubt the worst car I have ever driven, had a new one back in the 70's as a

co car, then upgraded to a Morris Marina.BL certainly made some howlers! my boss at

the time had the 1800 land crab...nice:eek:

I recall extremely well my '69 1000 - red with a black roof. Great at the time but I wouldn't consider having one now.

Anyway, with only delivery mileage on the clock it doesn't make sense to use it from a posterity aspect never mind financially and that's forgetting about the guaranteed rust that will develop. So, a bit pointless unless it goes to a collector and I'd imagine a lot them would prefer an earlier model.

When I was stationed in Germany I ordered a brand new mini 1275GT in red.

I then spent money having a stage 2 tuning, new exhaust, yellow sump guard.

Had a great time with that little car which came back to the UK with me.

I couldn't imagine an A-series engine at that sort of speed - they scream and whine at anything above 80mph and must be nudging 8000rpm at 130mph.

....this is very true even at 35 mph...head into glass..knees into dash as my late mother suffered when an idiot in front of my car stopped to quickly on a no uturn road to do a u turn on a byway while my ex was driving my mk 3S decades ago.. not a safe car in an accident.. otherwise brilliant handling.. foxy52

u don't know what you are missing...??!! Goodwood the Top Hat masters series amongst others.. their are many videos to see of mk1 2 and 3 Minis racing....the 1293 Bill Richards prepped engines are very good....even Crystal Palace in 69/70 with the fuel inj 8 porters.. normally aspirated and heavily modified A series engines plus 1 and a half inch twin carbs, heavily modified cylinder heads. inlet manifolds, crankshafts etc etc.... it goes on an on.. take a look at James Martins mk 1 Cooper S types.. and oh there was a very interesting show on tv with the lead singer of AC/DC who has bought one and loves it.. yes they are noisy and yes RPM,s are up to about 10 in the xtreme.. totally non standard but doable....ps my last mk2S put out about the same power to weight ratio as an old c180k I owned.. a flying brick as the Aussies call them.....foxy52

Yup, Marc Bolan found that out the hard way.

And the bumpers are so low that any kind of impact front or rear can result in significant damage to the car. Our Clubman was an insurance write off twice after fairly minor rear-end collisions ... bootlid / rear lights / etc. all stove in each time.

Good fun to drive though.

SMO666G...great reg mark!!!

The early ones are nice to look at but I've no fond memories of them. I'd one of the later Clubman Estate's. A piece of rubbish that rusted everywhere. As for the driving experience, I used to have to get out to stretch my knees at least once on a journey of more than 25 miles.

With the weirdly offset pedal arrangement, I would also find it more comfortable to drive with one foot on the dash and alternating them every now and then.

I thought the Hillman Imp was a far better car,
