This morning both my phone and my tablet told me there was an update available for the Mercedes Me android app. I had stopped trying to use this app, because it never seemed able to connect to the car, so I was hopeful that they would have rectified the problems.

I downloaded the update. The car's mileage appeared in kms, so I went into 'settings' to amend it to mph.

All I got was the usual message telling me it could not connect, and to try later.

Is this what MB mean by "Das Beste oder Nichts"?

Call the Mercedes Me help line on 00800 9 777 77 77 - they are very helpful.

My app has updated, but now gives me the message: "The software of your mobile terminal has been changed (rooting/jailbreak). This may affect the security of your device and the data of the Mercedes me app.

Would you still like to use the Mercedes me app?"

What on earth does that lot mean? I quite liked the app before, but am not going near it if it will muck up the security of my phone.

Any ideas please?

I used to email them about the problem, but they seem to be in denial - their last response was to ask for a screen dump of my phone showing the message that it wasn't able to connect. I can interpret the symbols at the top well enough to know that I have a good connection, so I'm not sure what they wanted to prove. You only have to look at the reviews of the android app to know there's a big problem - unless you work for MB, in which case everything is apparently perfect.

I have a Samsung S7 edge so a fairly new mobile phone. Mercedes me ? It works when it wants to and doesn't when it feels like it. More often than not it works though, and is very useful.
Like yesterday when it informed me I'd left a window open.

Rubbish, of course I didn't..... until I went back outside and closed it.:fail:

Intermittent connection problems for me too plus all gone Euro-style with litres and km's - can't change on the phone but OK on the website.

The app certainly doesn't work well when signal strength is poor, not sure if the is the phone or the app, using Samsung S7.

I've found with the new version in Android you sometimes need to go into Apps and force stop the App when you get the 'could not connect' error. Being the IT guy that I am I've done some investigation and it appears to happen when you connect to Wifi. It appears the App can't cope with the handover from the mobile network to wifi. The previous version was much more stable

Hmm you could be onto something here. My S7 struggles when connected to the wifi in the house but I just turned the wifi off and hey presto it was straight in. Thanks for the tip.

On a separate note, can you change the tyre pressure readings to something like " psi " as I'm afraid kpa just goes straight over my head. I guess I'm an old fashioned type of guy but I just can't seem to find the settings on my phone to change it ?

I'm not sure you can change it. What I do is have a picture of the pressures from the petrol tank cover on my fone. This enables am easy comparison.

I've had a look and don't believe you can change the units to Psi to kPa (kilo pascal) , I think this is due to the preferred unit of measurement that the Germans use. I believe kPa has largely replace Psi in most countries apart from those that still use the imperial system for certain things (us). If you look on the inside of your fuel flap all of the tyre pressures will most certainly be in kPa, I didn't get it at first but I've now got a tyre pressure gauge that has kPa measurements so its not too bad when I'm checking my tyre pressures manually. :)

Local tyre fitter in Italy last summer used kPa, he had no idea what Psi was....

The MM app works perfectly on my Iphone 6. However, I also found an app called "Connect" which is a scaled down version of MM but also from MB not sure why. The other problem with these apps is that not all features work on all cars.....

On another note, I recently got a notification of a change in their terms and if I understood it correctly there are to be some new features released in December...the Car X Communication looks interesting - my son has something similar in his new Q7 not sure if my car will have it or not.

I believe the other App you have found is to be used in conjunction with the aftermarket Mercedes Connect dongle that can be fitted to older vehicles. Interesting news about the Car X feature, I doubt my A Class will have it. I can't get the sent to navigation feature working from the App which is a shame.

Mine works....once you send it to the car you have to find it on your nav system - it does not automatically show up. Can't recall exactly how to do it....if it is in Personal POIs or elsewhere.

Interesting, In the Mercedes Me App if I select an address using the Map in the Mobility section and select 'send to my vehicle' I just get "unable to send to vehicle". I wonder if the A Class doesn't have that feature despite having the full Command Online system.

For some funny reason, on my fone, the range now shows up in km as does the odometer reading. On my PC, it's still in miles. Does anyone know how to switch the units used? I haven't found a way to do this in any of the settings...

I've never used this before as I didn't know it was even there until I read this post.
I tried it today and sent the car a destination from my phone. As soon as I turned the car on the destination I sent popped up in a window on the dash.... Do you want to go to this destination yes/no...
Fabulous... I learned something today and will definitely be using that again.

Thanks Liam, hope you get yours to work too.
