i am about to purchase a nearly new V class and would like to retrofit the Burmester upgrade or similar. I can’t find information anywhere. Does anyone have any advice?

Yes.....:

www.comand.co.uk upgraded the sound system on my car.

I suggest you talk to them, they will know exactly what's needed and can also supply (and install) any parts.

Thanks very much for your helpful response. I will contact them once I have the car.

Retro-fitting an "OEM" system is probably going to be prohibitively expensive and yield mediocre results at best.

All these big name systems seem to use relatively low quality components to reach a level above the standard OEM system, which is not much of a benchmark to start with usually.

Personally, I would take COMAND's recommendation on what drivers and amps (subject to requirements) to install.

Exactly this! You’re better to get an aftermarket system imo, as the Burmester system would involve installing all new door cards. I can see that being phenomenally expensive

The Burmester system is very costly to retrofit and in all honesty its very poor anyway. Disappointingly poor in fact.

We can achieve far far better results for a lot less thwan the cost of retrofitting Burmester.

When you get the car drop me an email with the VIN number on sales@comand.co.uk

I would like to thank all of the folk who have responded to my question. It is much appreciated.
