V class speedometer

Hi , the speedometer of my V230 638.294 , year 1999 is dead , I have failed to locate the speed sensor on the gearbox , I can only see one big cable with lots of pins that goes into the gearbox , can you advise me of where exactly I should look for the sensor

Sensor/sender is #42 in the diagram. (I think).

Company from that link - they've done dials convertion on my w639 instrument cluster (kmh to mph). Chopped my original dials in half and just swapped with poor quality mph dials.Now speedo and revs look like from two different cars. Wouldn't use or recommend them ever again.

My engine is 638.294 2.2CDI Are you sure a petrol has the same basic engine ?

That speedo ribbon only supplies the clock and odometer
