Our V220, 447. (2019) air con light has gone out and was hissing behind the dash…. diagnostic says low gas (B119184) iirc, so assume that it has a leak. Noticed a larger than normal puddle of condensation behind the rear wheel after returning from a five hour journey…. presume that the condenser is the problem.
Is this a dash out job to replace potentially an O ring…. one month out of warranty tia.

Merc aircon I find tends to make a hissing death rattle noise from the evaporator in the dash as gas pressure is getting low. If it was this noise, it might not be an issue in the dash, which would be a bonus.

If you lose the gas through a leak there will be no lubricant in the system and you'll hear mechanical noise from the compressor when the engine is running and the aircon is on.

Don't know about the W447 but on the W639 the condenser is somewhere in the engine bay. I got a mobile aircon specialist to look at it at home - he came back and fitted a new Behr one for £280 all in (8 years ago).

As an update, my local expert says the leak “could” be from the evaporator, but can’t get to it without removing the dash. System not holding gas overnight.
I can see this being a costly fix so am going to book it into my local MB dealership as may be a bit of goodwill depending on the part, so they say..

Have you seen the viano/vito "similar threads" that pop up for me right below this one? They talk about an aircon pipe supplying the evaporator under the fuse box and problems cause with a retaining clip. How much of a DIYer are you? Could you spend half an hour or so disassembling to have a look? It's pretty low skill level I'd guess and minimal tools?
