Hi All
i have a w638 v class v230 petrol.
had a very minor water leak so changed water pump at local garage.
it then started to leak oil on closer inspection it turns out the oil is leaking from one of the bolts that holds the water pump on! Strange!
anyway took it off again replaced gasket yet still oil is coming out and also mixing with water in the waterpump.
what is this all about why on earth would this bolt go into anything containing oil should just bolt onto the blockbut no this bolt gos into it right into it.
any ideas I would assume the same problem will occur on other models using the 2.3 petrol engine.
Any ideas anyone.
thanks
Sam

Possiblity and a bit of a guess. If the bolts holding the water pump are of different lengths and have been mixed up............!!!!!!!!!! You could have a hole in the timing cover. I do know for a fact that the OM646 motor uses different length bolts.

Thanks for getting in touch.
When I took them all back out they were all the same.
Now im having a think if the local garage dropped a short one. Then replaced it with one same length as the others! Ffs
Im begining to think I should just do my own work from now on!
