Vibration - Gearbox/exhaust?

When the rpm on my ML270 Auto is at certain point there is a vibration in the car.
I have recently had a new cat fitted - could a problem with the installation be contributing or is it something more sinister like the gearbox or clutch?
Any help would be appreciated.

I would first look at the CAT.

Do you mean the whole car vibrates, or you can hear something vibrating? If the latter it could simply be a heat shield that's slightly loose (tinny rattle), or the exhaust system slightly out of alignment and knocking on something.

Your auto gearbox doesn't have a clutch, so it's definitely not that

Did this only become noticeable after the new cat?

Check mounts are not being compromised.
