Since I bought my 2001 E320CDI about 6 weeks ago, I've noticed some vibration when braking hard from about 50mph or above. Don't notice it at lower speeds or under light braking. Vibration is not noticeable through the steering wheel. Car went to dealer today for some warranty issues, including the vibration. I specifically asked them to check the brake disks for runout. They called and left a message to say they had checked the disks and found them OK, but had found some play in the front wheel bearings, which they tightened up. Not sure if they're BS'ing me or not here, but I wouldn't have thought the front wheel bearings were adjustable - are they? In any case, if it was the fronts causing the problem, wouldn't I have noticed steering wheel vibration?
