VIN query

I have been looking at getting another MB and using VIN decoders to discover the exact spec.

Today I have come across a car with VIN starting W1K instead of the usual WDD or WDB.

Can anyone on here explain why this would be?

No, it's build date was February 2020.

The VIN decoder lists the following within the spec:

02J Invalid changeover of world manufacturer to Mercedes-Benz AG (ASF) 050 YoM X9/2 085 World manufacturer conversion to Mercedes-Benz AG

I've never seen these before. Any ideas?

Could it be a dodgy car? Or the vin decoding software?

Where are you getting the VIN from ? Actually looking at it through the windshield ?

Winshield, door pillar and V5.

The VIN decoders all confirm the car is what it claims to be. I just hadn't come across those codes before.
